Hanoi family homestay

We have two small homestays, both located in the heart of Hanoi's historic Old Quarter. From your room of our homestay on Hang Vai Street, you can look out the window to see bamboo craftsmen practicing their traditional art, building ladders, water pipes, furniture and torches using nothing but bamboo. Next door is one of Hanoi's most popular bia hoi's, where locals gather to eat, pass the time of day, and, of course, drink fresh keg beer. Less than ten minute's walk away, you're strolling along the shores of Hoan Kiem Lake (Sword Lake), the cultural heart of Hanoi. Visit the water puppet theater, the famous Dong Xuan market, the Ma May Ancient House and so much more, all within minutes of our homestay. Watch the never-ending stream of vendors as they make their way along our street selling everything from dishes to toothpicks, fresh baked bread and artfully prepared street food, face masks, tropical fruit and fresh flowers, clothes, shoes, furniture and almost anything else that you could imagine. This is our neighborhood. From our homestay on Ly Nam De Street, you will be tucked away in a quiet courtyard, steps away from the busy Old Quarter streets, Hanoi Train Street and some of the best sites and restaurants in Hanoi. 

Our homestays are unique. We came to Hanoi from the countryside nearly fifteen years ago and opened our first little guesthouse. During that time, we've become a part Hanoi’s busy city life. Yet we've kept our countryside values and traditions. Everyone is welcome at our home and no one is ever hungry. The words painted in our lobby say it all: You are not just a tourist, you are a family friend. This is how we run our homestay and we invite you to experience Hanoi with us from a very local point of view.

When you stay in one of our basic but comfortable rooms, you will have the comforts you need - a private bathroom, air conditioning and heat, color cable television and wireless internet. In the morning, we'll prepare a fresh and hearty breakfast for you - your choice of Vietnamese or Western. The real treat, though, is in the evening, when we may invite you to share our dinner! Enjoy traditional Vietnamese food with our family and guests in a busy and festive atmosphere. Our newest homestay on Ly Nam De has big and comfortable private rooms with king-size beds as well as economical dormitory rooms; all rooms come with air conditioning and heat, free wireless internet and Hanoi Family Homestay's genuine hospitality.

We offer free transportation from the train or bus station when you arrive in Hanoi. Just let us know your arrival details and we’ll be waiting for you. If you are coming by air, we will make sure that you are met in the arrival hall and take you by private car to our homestay. Our airport shuttle costs less than a taxi and you are assured of a hassle-free journey.
